General description of the collection: The Terry De La Mesa Allen photograph collection consists of a collection of photographs spanning the military career of Terry De La Mesa Allen from 1916 to his retirement in 1945 and several years thereafter. Included are photos of his service with the 14th U.S. Cavalry; service on the Mexican border in 1916 and border patrol to 1918; command of 1st Infantry Division in North Africa and Sicily; commander of 104th Infantry Division, Germany; various military reviews and social affairs; family photos; American and Russian soldiers at Delitzsch, Germany (April 1945); inactivation of 104th Infantry Division at Camp San Louis Obespo, California (December 1945); retirement ceremony (August 1946); and several reunions of 104th Infantry Division. Photos also include his time as an avid polo player and horseman during the 1930s.
